Some helpful information:-
- Please make sure that all uniform has your child’s name clearly written on the labels.
- PE kits can be kept into school. Please could you provide clothing/footwear that is suitable for outdoor use. If children do not normally wear trainers/running shoes to school, suitable footwear to change into is advisable. PE will normally be on a Monday and/or Tuesday although PE days can vary depending on weather conditions, therefore it is helpful that kits are kept in school. These will be sent home before holidays for washing.
- We will be using the outdoor grounds on a frequent basis therefore we are asking if wellies (and possibly waterproof clothing if you are able) could be kept in school. We have a wonderful orchard that we intend to use throughout the year and so we need the children to have suitable footwear that can cope with wet and mud!
- At break time, children are permitted to bring their own fruit to eat. All children need to bring a water bottle to school with them every day. This is sent home for washing every night. Water only is permitted in the bottles.
- Homework will be sent home most weeks, usually on a Wednesday to be returned by Tuesday of the following week. A homework grid will be provided whereby pupils can choose which activity to complete every week with the aim of all tasks being completed over a 6 week period. Times tables and spellings are usually assessed on a weekly basis.
- Reading books and record cards will be sent home on a daily basis and we ask if these can be returned every day, as only a few minutes reading each evening can significantly help with literacy skills. It would be helpful if an adult at home can sign the reading record as we will once again be using the Class Dojo points system to reward and recognise effort so no doubt the children will be very enthusiastic at reminding you to complete it!
